I am an idiot. I stopped taking my happy pills. After all, things were going so well, I didn't need them anymore! Duh, I was feeling so great because of the pills.
I should be happy. We're going forward with IVF. We've been given an 85% chance of success. Things are happening. But today I just feel like I want to go back home and crawl into bed. I guess I do need my happy pills.
It makes me fear that I'll have to deal with post-partum depression, if we ever even get that far...

I would definitely get back on your pills if you are feeling down again. I read a study that said that they are allowing pregnant women to be on depression meds. It was an interesting study.
The upside is if you do get PPD, you know what will help make things better. Pills aren't a forever thing, they are a just until your body figures out how to make you happy on its own thing.
85% is pretty dang good!
Man, how many times have I been down that road? My head always used the argument that the "me on the pills" wasn't "the authentic me."
Bullcrap. After weaning off the pills for my pregnancy (which ended in miscarriage 4 days after I was at zero pills), I went beserk.
So, now it's MD-decreed, Jen stays on the pills throughout any pregnancy (once I get there). The risks outweigh the benefits. That's the whole thing about anti-depressants and pregnancy. If you can be off the pills and function normally, great. If you can't be off the pills and function normally, it's better for you and the baby to just stay on them.
Please go back on your happy pills and please go talk to your doctor. Here to talk and to listen if you need me.
I am still on my happy pills (mainly for anxiety), and I plan to keep taking them. My psychiatrist is on board. Something to consider...
85% chance of success? Where is your clinic and can I sign up?
OMG, those stats are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How is that possible?
Please share the secret of your future success!

With regards to postpartum depression... You know your body, you know your symptoms. And, you know, like GI Joe said, "Knowing is half the battle." ;) But seriously, I suppose it's better for you to have this sort of learning experience now as opposed full thrust later postpartum, right? Don't be too hard on yourself! Just be certain to have an open dialogue with your OB about this to prepare... There are medications that you can take during pregnancy and even while breastfeeding, if that's part of your plan.
