Small World

I asked a co-worker yesterday for advice on how to approach my boss with the whole fertility thing. When I told him we were going to a fertility doctor, he asked who. It turns out that he and his wife went to the same doctor to get his two children. AND there are two other women at my office that have used him. I ended up talking with him for about half an hour about the whole ordeal and how it just sucks.

He also told me that my boss's boss had to do in vitro with his wife to get their daughter. So I've got people at work that understand what I'm going through, just not my immediate boss. When it comes time to tell them something, I'll probably go to my boss's boss first and explain everything to him and only limited stuff to my immediate boss.

Sorry to hear about the results of the SA. I presume your DH has seen urologists etc? We went on for a year before we found what my DH's problem was... it is all so frustrating. I wish you the best with the new fertility doc and glad you have people at your office who understand.

So sorry about the SA results! We received similar results recently (low count, volume, motility and morphology) and have a urologist appointment on 8/25. I just have a gut feeling that we're heading in the direction of IVF w/ ICSI, too. Feel free to stop over to our blog for the backstory. I'll defintely be following your journey. It sounds like you're a bit further down the path than we are.

Glad that you found people at the office who have been through the same thing. It helps so much to realize that you're not alone. We deal with the same with DH's depression. When we talk about it, we find out that many people we know have been through similar or know someone who has. It helps.

(((HUGS)))

It's amazing how people start to come out of the woodwork when you begin to open up about infertility. What a wonderful bit of knowledge to have- that should make it much easier to discuss things with your co-workers and the boss' boss.

I just told my boss that I am going to have medical procedures done in September and that I needed flexibility. He was concerned at first, "Are you OK?" My answer, "Yes, it's nothing life-threatening."

He's okay with it.
