I've been wanting to do this for a while and after some of your advice on my last post, I made an appointment with a counselor. My work along with my husband's provides an Employee Assistance Program where I can go to 3 therapy sessions for free. After that I have unlimited visits that are a $30 copay.
The appointment is next Tuesday at noon. Fun lunch!

Great, I have nothing but good things to say about counseling :) It can truly bring miracles!
I hope that it brings you some peace of mind and everything else your looking for.
That's great. I hope it helps. Three free is great!
Hi Brandy - I've stumbled on your post and had to comment. I had my weekly counseling session this afternoon and can't say enough wonderful things about what it does for my mental well being - and ability to translate the crazy mixed up thoughts that fly around in my head into words that the rest of the world can understand. I had to try three different therapists until I found the lady I see now - the others were fine, but not the best 'fit' for me and what i needed. I suppose its best if you can find a therapist who has a background in infertility, but there are none of those where I live. The lady who I see now has an adoption speciality and I think that is part of what makes her so awesome. Her hourly rate is $125, but my insurance covers $75 leaving me with a 50 copay. I think it is a pretty awesome deal, considering the other costs we are dealing with. I hope it goes well! (and don't be afraid to keep looking if it doesn't!)

That's good news about getting a few free sessions :) I hope you find it helps. Counselling has really helped me in the past. Best wishes.
I hope that you are able to work through things. I know that I couldn't hade made it without therapy this past year. It is amazing how big of a difference it can make.
Hi Brandy --
First of all, thanks for commenting on my post. I always love meeting new people!
Second ... EAP is a wonderful thing. I can remember *every* detail about making that first call out for help when my world (finally) came crashing down. And it was The. Best. Thing. I could have done for myself.
One thing I recommend is perhaps talking to your RE's office (perhaps a nurse?) about who they might recommend to see if you want to continue with treatment after your 3 visits are up. Finding a counselor that was familiar with infertility was something that was important to me because she was able to empathize rather than offer "solutions." Not saying that outher counselors couldn't do it, I was just comfortable knowing that I was speaking with one that had treated other infertiles.
Anyway, good luck with your appointment. I know it's hard to keep your chin up, but just know that there IS love and support out here in IF land ...
xoxo

Oops ... btw, I meant to say "continue with treatment" in reference to counseling ... not IVF or other IF treatments ...
Sorry!
